Fishing
Haute-Saône is an angler's paradise, with 3,450 km of 1st and 2nd category fishing routes and around 400 ha of water. Haute-Saône offers interdepartmental reciprocal fishing with 87 other departments (Entente Halieutique du Grand Ouest).
The Ognon flows through the Villersexel region. This quiet, secret river rises in the southern Vosges mountains. It is very interesting for the variety of fish it offers. From Melisey to Villersexel, the river is richly populated with trout and grayling. Downstream, the river is renowned for its carnivorous fish.
The Ognon is listed by Pêche Mouche magazine as one of the 100 best rivers in France.
There are 2 fishing associations in the Villersexel area:
AAPPMA The Valoise in Senargent.
It is one of 54 fishing societies in Haute-Saône. The association was founded in 1938. The Valoise AAPPMA's rivers are :
- Le Scey, from the municipal boundary of Senargent to the confluence with the Rognon (2nd cat.),
- Le Rognon, from the municipal boundary of Senargent to the confluence with the Scey (2nd cat.),
- Le stream of Beveuge (2nd cat.) from the municipal boundary of Melecey to that of Villargent.
The Scey is a 20.4 km long watercourse which rises in the small town of Marvelise in the Doubs, in a wooded and heavily-watered region, and flows into the Ognon at Villersexel.

This reciprocal fishing society offers 1st and 2nd category courses:
- L'Ognon (1st cat.) Les Aynans -> pont de Longevelle, 2nd cat. up to the sand pits at Pont sur l'Ognon,
- Le Scey (2nd cat.),
- Le Lauzin (2nd cat.),
- La Saline de Longevelle: fishing reserve at Gouhenans,
- Etang communal Henry Scharly at Les Magny: open all year round on Wednesdays, weekends and public holidays. Federal fishing licence required.

There are two other fishing societies in our area. They allow fishing in private ponds: the Etangs du Bois at Senargent and the communal pond at Mignavillers. To fish in these ponds, you need to buy a fishing licence from one of these companies.
